Why we started Ionworks

Why we started Ionworks
Ionworks was founded in 2023 by the creators and maintainers of PyBaMM, the open-source battery modeling library used across academic and industrial research and development. The founders, frustrated by the scientific reproducibility crisis they encountered as academics, created PyBaMM to share research and hold themselves accountable. The company was started to scale that success and bring digital battery design to every engineer, turning physics-based simulation into accessible, reproducible workflows for battery R&D teams. Ionworks operationalizes PyBaMM for teams that need structured data management, parameterized models, and coordination beyond a single notebook.
