Despite IPO jitters and AI safety worries, Anthropic sticks to a 2026 offering

Despite IPO jitters and AI safety worries, Anthropic sticks to a 2026 offering

How quickly things change in the artificial intelligence era. Just a few months after everyone was scrambling to infuse AI into every enterprise operation — and frankly they still are, as agents have captured the enterprise imagination — everyone now is saying, “Whoa, where’s the brake pedal?”

That’s why controlling agents is the next infrastructure priority, says theCUBE Research’s Dave Vellante, who examined how AI kingpin Nvidia is positioning its new OpenShell runtime to provide adequate containment for agents. Nvidia also this week debuted an Open Agent Safety Platform. As Dave’s advice concludes: “Scale agent authority only as fast as you can prove independent control.”

New models kept on coming regardless again this week, of course, and mostly what we’re seeing so far in terms of controls is nascent agentic control startups, a whole lot of talk and rather toothless safety controls — though the FTC looks to be gearing up to investigate OpenAI and Anthropic over potential consumer risks. It doesn’t help that OpenAI “parted ways” with three researchers who may have leaked information to AI watchdog groups.

Despite all that uncertainty, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei seems pretty certain he wants his company to go public by Thanksgiving, come hell or rogue agents, or parody on Saturday Night Live. It’s a bit out on the skinny branches, however, as sentiment is fading on IPOs in general. Oura postponed its IPO this week, and Accelevation’s IPO didn’t really go as planned. OpenAI has already been making noises about waiting until next year.

Here’s all the enterprise and emerging tech news and analysis this week from SiliconANGLE and beyond:
