Pluto Security nabs $42M to help enterprises secure their AI agents

Pluto Security nabs $42M to help enterprises secure their AI agents

Pluto Security Inc., a provider of artificial intelligence security software, today announced that it has raised $42 million in funding.

The company raised about a fifth of the sum through a seed round led by TLV Partners. The rest arrived in the form of a Series A investment led by Jump Capital. The latter deal also included contributions from several other backers including Skinos, a fund affiliated with Point Software Technologies Ltd. co-founder Shlomo Kramer.

Manually identifying every single AI agent in a corporate network is often prohibitively time-consuming. As a result, administrators can overlook agents that pose cybersecurity risks. Tel Aviv-based Pluto offers a platform designed to address that challenge. It can automatically map out agents across employee endpoints, cloud infrastructure and software-as-a-service applications.

The platform collects detailed telemetry about each agent that it detects. Pluto identifies the AI model that powers an agent, the tool it uses to carry out its work and whether users have added any customizations. Those customizations often take the form of plugins, file repositories that contain prompts and integrations with external applications.

According to TechCrunch, Pluto collects agent telemetry using customers’ other cybersecurity tools. It also deploys lightweight data collection programs called sensors. Pluto’s sensors rely on hardware-efficient AI models to identify malicious activity. When an agent attempts to perform a risky action, Pluto sends it a prompt that instructs it to stop the workflow.

Companies can customize how Pluto mitigates risks by defining cybersecurity policies. A software startup, for example, can create a policy that only allows developers to run AI-generated scripts if they don’t interact with a sensitive system. It’s also possible to regulate AI agents’ tools and user-created customizations.

Pluto offers its cybersecurity platform alongside a free service called Plutonium. It enables companies to check publicly available agent extensions, application connectors and MCP servers for risks before installing them. Plutonium provides data about more than 4,500 such tools.

Pluto’s third focus area is cybersecurity research. Earlier this month, the company’s researchers uncovered a hacking campaign that targeted users of Solidity, a programming language optimized for smart contract projects. A smart contract is a transaction processing script that runs on a blockchain.

Pluto reportedly generates more than $2 million in annualized revenue from over 30 enterprise customers. Its free Plutonium service, in turn, has several thousand users. The company will use its new funding to grow its workforce, enhance its commercial offering and finance more cybersecurity research.
