Alibaba Pledges 3 Billion for AI Infrastructure and Cloud Computing

Alibaba Pledges 3 Billion for AI Infrastructure and Cloud Computing
Alibaba Group has committed 3 billion over the next three years to build out its artificial intelligence and cloud computing infrastructure, marking one of the largest capital expenditure programs in the company's history. The investment will focus on expanding data center capacity, acquiring advanced GPUs and custom silicon, and developing the Tongyi Qianwen model family. CEO Eddie Wu emphasized that AI represents the defining technology of the decade and Alibaba intends to be the leading cloud provider for AI workloads in Asia. The spending plan exceeds Alibaba's total capital expenditure over the past decade and signals a strategic pivot toward AI-native services. Analysts expect the bulk of investment to flow through Alibaba Cloud, which already powers the Qwen open model ecosystem and the Bailian AI development platform.
