Product Overview

Axure RP is prototyping software for UX designers, researchers, product managers, and business analysts. It builds realistic, functional prototypes using event triggers, conditional logic, multi-state panels, and data-driven widgets, without writing code.

Prototypes publish to Axure Cloud for on-screen commenting, developer redlines, and handoff through Jira and Confluence. Axure Whiteboards adds free collaborative documents and canvases for specifications, and integrations import work from Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD.

Competitive Advantages

Axure RP handles interaction complexity that lighter design tools do not, combining event triggers, conditions, variables, and data-driven repeaters in one environment that needs no programming. Its patent marking lists more than twenty-five granted US patents covering Axure RP and Axure Cloud.

The platform pairs prototyping with built-in flow diagrams, notes, and specifications, then hands off to developers through automated redlines and CSS inspection. Axure Cloud can run on a company domain or on-premises with single sign-on, and is SOC 2 Type II certified and ISO 27001 compliant.

Competitive Disadvantages

Axure RP carries a steeper learning curve than browser-based design tools, which slows onboarding for teams new to conditional logic and variables. Teams whose work is mostly visual design can reach early results faster in canvas-first tools.

The editor is desktop software for Windows and macOS rather than a browser-native canvas, so collaboration depends on publishing projects to Axure Cloud. Its subscription-only model also removes the perpetual-license option long-time customers previously held.

Pricing Strategy

Axure RP is sold as a per-user subscription at $29 per month for the Pro edition and $49 per month for Team, which adds co-authoring and revision history. Every subscription includes unlimited publishing and hosting on Axure Cloud, and Axure no longer offers perpetual licenses.

Enterprise buyers get Axure Cloud on a company domain or on-premises with single sign-on and user management under a quoted agreement. Students and educators at accredited institutions receive the Team edition free, nonprofits and educational institutions receive a 60% discount, and government agencies receive 25% off.
