BC Biocarbon operates a proprietary continuous-feed pyrolysis biorefinery that converts residual wood from forestry and lumber operations into biogenic carbon products. Its Black Bear Biochar brand of soil amendment is OMRI-listed and supplies professional growers and national retail soil mixes, where it improves soil structure, water retention, and microbial activity as a higher-carbon alternative to mined amendments such as perlite. The same process yields biocoal, wood vinegar, and bioenergy, and the company co-locates production with sawmills to keep the supply chain local and circular.
Beyond soil products, the company generates Puro.earth-certified carbon removal credits tied to the long-term carbon storage of its biochar and sells them to corporate and retail buyers through streaming and purchase agreements with carbon finance partners. It has also scaled through a joint venture with a lumber partner that is building a biorefinery to convert municipal and forestry waste into bioproducts for industry.
