Boxbot System is a modular automated storage and retrieval platform for parcel logistics.
Boxbot System dynamically allocates storage space for parcels of different sizes, limiting fixed empty volume. Trays connected to standard conveyors move items into and out of the system without dedicated pick or load stations, a design Boxbot positions for dense parcel handling.
Its modular gantries can fit new facilities or constrained existing sites. Boxbot says the operating software coordinates capacity, throughput, sequencing, and dispatch, while modules can be added to suit different physical spaces and applications.
In September 2023, Boxbot described a shift from autonomous last-mile delivery vehicles toward parcel storage inside logistics facilities. The company said customer interest in its earlier package-retrieval system had prompted it to productize a three-dimensional conveyor and storage platform.
At that point Boxbot reported customer pilots across delivery centers, bonded storage, and pickup settings, with production deployments still on its roadmap. Its current website presents the modular Boxbot System for those facility workflows but does not state a separate first-release date for the offering.
Boxbot states that the system handles items from 6 by 6 by 1 inches and one pound up to 35 by 24 by 24 inches and 75 pounds. It says modules can reach 25 feet in height, with throughput depending on the number and dimensions of installed modules.
The stated applications span parcel delivery, third-party logistics, airport cargo, industrial operations, and retail. A 2023 interview described customer pilots and planned production installations, so those plans should not be read as evidence that every proposed setting had deployed at scale.
Boxbot System is a modular storage and retrieval platform that connects proprietary parcel trays to conventional conveyors. Its gantry architecture buffers and sequences items in three dimensions and transfers them without dedicated pick or load stations.
Boxbot presents the system for delivery stations, cross docks, bonded air-cargo facilities, and automated counters. The modules can be configured for new facilities or constrained existing sites, while the Boxbot Operating System coordinates storage, throughput, and dispatch workflows.
