A. Ryals McMullian was elected chairman of the Flowers Foods board, effective immediately after the 2023 annual meeting of shareholders. George E. Deese will retire from the chairman role.

Flowers Foods completed its acquisition of Papa Pita Bakery, a manufacturer and distributor of bagels, tortillas, breads, buns, English muffins, and flat breads. Papa Pita Bakery will operate as an independent subsidiary of Flowers.

Flowers Foods announced four new bread and snacking products from its Nature’s Own, Tastykake, and Wonder brands, including two buns and its first keto product.

Flowers Foods, Inc. named Cindy Cox chief human resources officer, effective Feb. 6, 2023. Cox will lead the company’s human resources organization and report to president and CEO A. Ryals McMullian.
