Inflammatix develops molecular diagnostics that interpret a patient's immune response rather than aiming at pathogens directly. Its flagship TriVerity Test System, cleared by the FDA in January 2025, measures the expression of 29 host-response genes in whole blood and applies machine-learning classifiers to report three scores in about 30 minutes: likelihood of bacterial infection, likelihood of viral infection, and risk of severe illness within seven days. The test runs on the company's Myrna instrument near the patient in routine emergency department workflows.
Accuracy was validated in the SEPSIS-SHIELD study across 1,222 patients at 22 sites, after FDA Breakthrough Device designation in November 2023. The biomarkers behind TriVerity stem from research by co-founders Tim Sweeney and Purvesh Khatri and are exclusively licensed from Stanford University, where Khatri remains a professor of medicine. The pipeline extends toward planned tests for emerging infectious diseases, autoimmune disease, tropical infections, and transplant rejection, anchored by an endotypes research program for sepsis therapy selection.
