IonQ launches Superion 256, a 256-qubit quantum computer designed for volume production using control chips made on standard semiconductor lines. The sixth-generation platform uses SkyWater-fabricated chips and electronic qubit control, and IonQ says its design can scale from 256 qubits to millions. Orders are open, with first customer deliveries due in 2027. IonQ also estimates that running Shor’s algorithm against secp256k1 requires 19,397 physical qubits and 25.7 days.
