Consumer robotics company whose Matic robot vacuums and mops floors using camera-based navigation and on-device processing.
Matic navigates with five RGB-IR cameras and visual SLAM rather than a lidar turret, building a 3D map of a home and recognizing surfaces, obstacles, pets, and people. The robot can vacuum rugs and carpet, mop hard floors, and continue working in low light using infrared illumination.
Matic processes camera, audio, map, and cleaning data on the device, so sensitive home data does not routinely leave the house. Its rectangular cleaning head, sealed waste bag, and approximately 55 dB vacuuming noise are additional differentiators cited in company documentation and reviews.

Matic's premium price is a recurring limitation: Automate.org described the original roughly $1,800 price as a significant drawback, and the robot still costs more than many mainstream competitors. Rising component and memory costs also prompted a 2026 price increase.
Reviewers note functional limits as well: Gizmodo reported that the robot could not fit under a couch and that its voice features became the first to require an internet connection. Matic's own documentation states that it cannot climb stairs and does not officially support ramps.

VentureBeat cited industry estimates of 12.3% to 17.87% compound annual growth for robot vacuum cleaners and a market ranging from $9.12 billion to $17.9 billion by 2028. Matic targets the premium end of that market rather than low-cost competitors.
Automate.org reported that iRobot's bankruptcy journey and change in ownership raised privacy and continuity concerns that could create an opening for Matic in premium robot vacuums. Matic's stated near-term priorities are scaling United States assembly, improving the current product, and eventually adding more home robots.

Matic sells direct through its website at a promotional price of $1,395 for one robot and dock through September 15, 2026, against a regular price of $1,495; a two-robot bundle is discounted to $2,790. The company also sells consumables and service add-ons, including a $96 Annual Bag Pass and $144 Matic Care coverage.
The Verge reported that Matic raised the price from $1,245 to $1,495 on September 9, 2026, citing tenfold increases in memory and component costs, while offering a free year of bags and a six-month return window. Historical coverage shows the launch-era price was as high as $1,795 to $1,800 before later reductions and increases.
