Product Overview

Momentus builds the Vigoride Orbital Service Vehicle, a spacecraft bus that launches as a payload on SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter rideshare missions to low Earth orbit. The vehicle hosts payloads up to roughly 200 kilograms and can generate up to three kilowatts of peak solar power for compute-heavy sensors and robotic payloads.

Through Vigoride, Momentus provides hosted payload support, last-mile delivery to custom operational orbits, and in-orbit servicing for government and commercial customers. The bus has flown repeated missions carrying defense, NASA, and commercial payloads, with subsequent Vigoride vehicles fully booked into 2027.

Market Outlook

Momentus is positioned in an expanding government and commercial space market, forecasting 2026 revenue of $10 million, a ninefold increase over $1.1 million in 2025, driven by milestone-based contracts with NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense. The company also qualified as a vendor on the Missile Defense Agency SHIELD contract vehicle tied to the Golden Dome initiative.

Vigoride 8 is fully subscribed with NASA-awarded contracts for a 2027 launch and Vigoride 9 still has payload capacity available, indicating continued customer demand. A strengthened debt-free balance sheet with roughly $76 million in cash supports investment in satellite technology and orbital transportation services.

Competitive Advantages

Momentus propels its Vigoride vehicle with a proprietary Microwave Electrothermal Thruster that runs on water propellant, which is non-toxic and storable without cryogenic tanks and offers a pathway toward in-situ resource utilization from lunar or asteroid ice. The modular Vigoride architecture hosts customer payloads and performs last-mile orbital delivery within a single bus.

The company holds national-security clearance and serves the U.S. Space Force, DARPA, NASA, and the Missile Defense Agency, including a qualified-vendor slot on the SHIELD contract vehicle. Its in-house Automation and Manufacturing Facility houses cleanrooms, microwave electrothermal thruster vacuum test chambers, and a dedicated Mission Control Center.
