Theradux is an inhaled human thioredoxin-derived biologic drug platform for obstructive airway disease patients.
Theradux pairs the mucosal-surface selectivity and pH-independent disulfide-reductase activity of secreted human thioredoxin with a patented target-binding mechanism that holds thioredoxin activity on the epithelial surface. Its thioredoxin-derived proteins and peptides form stable covalent linkages to molecular targets on multiple epithelial surfaces, including the lung, eye, and gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts. The platform is built for topical delivery without systemic uptake, aiming at on-target efficacy with minimal off-target effects.
Against non-selective mucolytic drugs, Theradux-derived proteins relax mucus gels without disrupting the polymeric structure required for normal mucus clearance, and they retain activity across a broad airway pH range. The platform targets patients with cystic fibrosis and other obstructive airway diseases, with non-pulmonary epithelial indications where extracellular thioredoxin supplementation may help.
