ProductOperating Status: Currently Offered
Gyrotron-powered millimeter-wave drilling systems engineered to access deep, superhot geothermal reservoirs.
The platform starts with conventional rotary drilling down to basement rock, then switches to a surface gyrotron that sends high-power millimeter waves through standard oil-field tubing acting as a waveguide. The beam vaporizes rock while purge gas carries the debris to surface, leaving a vitrified borehole and removing the need for complex downhole cutting equipment.
The stated targets are depths of 3 to 20 kilometers and rock temperatures of 300 to 500 degrees Celsius, conditions the company says yield five to ten times more electricity per well than conventional geothermal. A full-scale rig combining both drilling modes ran in 2025, and field drilling has penetrated more than 100 meters of granite.
