Raytheon is RTX's defense business, building air and missile defense systems, sensors, and effectors.
The portfolio centers on integrated air and missile defense, led by the Patriot system, the LTAMDS GhostEye radar, and the NASAMS partnership, together with naval systems such as the SPY-6 radar family, Tomahawk, SM-2, SM-3, SM-6, ESSM, and Phalanx.
Air-to-air effectors include AMRAAM and AIM-9X, while land forces draw on precision fires such as Excalibur and the Javelin partnership. The business also supplies space ground systems that connect its sensors and effectors across domains.

Demand signals in 2026 point to multi-year production strength. RTX's Raytheon won a $20.7 billion multi-year AMRAAM contract in September 2026, a $22.9 billion seven-year Tomahawk contract in August 2026, and a $745 million SM-3 IIA interceptor award the same month.
Capacity is expanding alongside backlog: a $1.8 billion SPY-6 hardware production and sustainment contract followed in July 2026, and a $100 million investment in Portsmouth, Rhode Island announced in June 2026 accelerates radar testing and interceptor production.

Patriot serves as the foundation of integrated air and missile defense for 19 nations, and Raytheon has built and delivered more than 240 Patriot fire units. That installed base anchors training, sustainment, and follow-on production demand across allied air defense programs.
The GEM interceptor family has been involved in more than 90 combat ballistic-missile intercepts since January 2015, combat experience few competitors can match. The system carries a stated growth path through 2048, giving customers a long-horizon modernization route within their existing Patriot investments.
