TechCrunch’s Equity hosts Max Zeff and Anthony Ha discuss Atlassian’s $610 million deal for The Browser Company and the growing competition over AI-powered browsers. They examine the shift from consumer to enterprise AI browsers alongside OpenAI’s $1.1 billion Statsig acquisition and executive hires, Klarna’s IPO plans, online safety laws, and the mystery customers that account for nearly 40% of Nvidia’s revenue.
Atlassian agrees to acquire The Browser Company, maker of the Arc and Dia browsers, for $610 million in cash. CEO Josh Miller says the browser company will operate independently under Atlassian after the acquisition and will continue developing Dia, one of its browsers.
The Browser Company launches its AI-first browser, Dia, in invite-only beta, giving existing Arc members access immediately. Built on Chromium, Dia uses its URL bar for an integrated chatbot that can search the web, summarize uploaded files, answer questions about open tabs, and draft text based on them. Optional History can use seven days of browsing data as context, while Skills lets users create code-based shortcuts.
