UG 100 is Ultima’s open-wafer sequencer for high-throughput genomic analysis.
Ultima describes UG 100 as an open-wafer sequencer built for sustained, high-throughput operation. The product page states that rotational imaging and continuous automation support throughput while reducing manual intervention.
The manufacturer also publishes per-wafer read output and cost metrics for the Solaris update. Those are vendor specifications for this platform; a buyer needs comparable run conditions before treating them as proof of superiority over another instrument.
Ultima’s current UG 100 comparison labels the original system February 2024 and the UG 100 with Solaris workflow February 2025. Those labels distinguish the initial sequencer from the later chemistry and library-preparation update.
The current page continues to present UG 100 as a separate platform alongside Ultima’s UG200 Series. Its Solaris workflow is an update to the platform rather than evidence that the first UG 100 appeared in 2025.
The UG 100 design replaces conventional flow cells with an open 200-millimeter wafer and rotational imaging. Ultima says flow-based chemistry, continuous operation, and compatible library preparation contribute to its sequencing workflow.
The official comparison separates the February 2024 baseline from the February 2025 Solaris configuration. The page also links ppmSeq and other applications, so those workflows should be treated as supported uses rather than separate UG 100 hardware models.
The UG 100 Sequencing Platform is Ultima Genomics’ single-wafer genomic sequencer. Its current product page describes high-throughput sequencing with an open semiconductor wafer, rotational imaging, flow-based chemistry, and continuous operation.
Ultima presents the system for whole-genome and other omics projects. The page also describes Solaris library preparation, integrated analysis, and an option for laboratories to access sequencing through certified service providers.
