UG200 Series sequencers provide high-throughput genomic sequencing with single- and dual-wafer configurations.
Ultima states that the UG200 Series can run continuously with automated wafer handling and hot-swappable reagent drawers. Its product specifications distinguish the single-wafer and dual-wafer systems by output and describe an in-field upgrade from UG200 to Ultra.
The company also describes a smaller footprint and weight than its preceding platform, which may ease deployment in laboratories. These are the manufacturer’s stated capabilities; the product page does not provide an independent comparison with every competing sequencer.
Ultima Genomics announced the UG200 Series on February 23, 2026, ahead of the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology conference. The announcement introduced a single-wafer UG200 and a dual-wafer UG200 Ultra.
The launch release said the systems were available for purchase, with shipments expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The current product page presents both configurations as members of one instrument series.
The UG200 architecture uses a 200-millimeter open wafer, rotational imaging, and reagent delivery rather than a conventional flow cell. The manufacturer says pooled samples can be loaded for continuous operation with limited manual intervention.
The official specifications separate run output by read length and by single-wafer versus dual-wafer configuration. Buyers therefore need to compare the required read length, library type, and annual sample volume before treating the two configurations as interchangeable.
The UG200 Series is Ultima Genomics’ sequencing instrument family with a single-wafer UG200 and a dual-wafer UG200 Ultra. Both configurations use the same open-wafer architecture and target high-throughput genomic projects.
The product page states that the UG200 can be upgraded in the field to the Ultra configuration. It describes whole-genome, single-cell, and proteomic applications and gives separate output specifications for the two systems.
