Universal Quantum develops trapped-ion quantum computers built for scale. Its iQPU architecture tiles small, silicon-fabricated quantum chips into larger systems, linking modules through the electric-field UQConnect interconnect and controlling qubits with microwave-based UQLogic.

The approach differs from systems that rely on photonic interconnects or millikelvin cooling, because its modules transfer ions directly between chips and operate at 70 K using standard semiconductor manufacturing. That design positions the company for government and industrial programmes seeking error-corrected, utility-scale machines.
