Whisper Aero sells UltraQuiet electric ducted-fan propulsors that generate thrust for drones, defense aircraft, and future regional air-mobility vehicles. The same fan architecture is also applied to commercial air-moving equipment such as electric blowers.
Named product families include the eQ series of electric engines and JetFoil wing integrations that place multiple fans along a leading edge for short takeoff and landing. The company works with airframe partners rather than operating its own airline.
Whisper is targeting defense logistics first, where quiet, efficient electric propulsion can support autonomous cargo aircraft that operate from short or degraded runways. The US Air Force has funded Collaborative Logistics Aircraft work through STRATFI and OECIF contracts after earlier small-business validation programs.
Longer term, the company positions the same propulsors for regional air mobility and commercial air-moving products if community noise constraints loosen enough for drones and electric aircraft to operate near people. Certification progress, including AS9100D, is intended to support production for aerospace and defense customers.
Whisper designs electric ducted fans so that noise is reduced in amplitude and shifted in frequency, including tones moved into the ultrasonic range beyond typical human hearing. The company says this approach also improves efficiency by more than twenty percent versus other ducted fans because unused acoustic energy is recaptured as useful work.
Ducted fans add a safety and integration benefit over open rotors, and the architecture scales from small drone thrusters to arrays used for short-takeoff logistics aircraft. Independent testing with US defense organizations has been used to validate noise and performance claims.
