Jack Clark reports on AI research benchmarks, open-weight models, and the prospect of AI-driven activity in space. Elorian and Scale AI’s Humanity’s Sixth Sense benchmark finds a wide gap between people, who score 93.1, and the top AI system, GPT 6 Astra, which scores 53.6. P-Zero Research’s TasteVal finds frontier models’ research taste doubling every three months, leading Clark to view full recursive self-improvement in 2027 as more likely. Reflection’s Beam uses less inference compute than comparable models but trails Chinese models on several benchmarks.
