Founded in 1870 in Iowa City, the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is the state’s only LCME-accredited allopathic medical school and one of the nation’s first coeducational medical schools. It trains more than 600 medical students and over 1,500 residents, fellows, and graduate students through MD, physician assistant, physical therapy, and graduate medical education programs.
The college is led by Tyrone D. Artz Dean Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, and is nationally recognized in graduate health sciences education, with its physician assistant and physical therapy programs consistently ranked among the top five nationally by U.S. News & World Report.
