AAF Management closes a $55 million Axis Fund that combines direct startup investing with commitments to emerging venture funds. The Washington-based firm plans to allocate about 80% of the capital to startups and 20% to first- or second-time managers, and says it has already backed 25 pre-seed and seed funds alongside five direct bets. The vehicle brings AAF’s assets across four funds to roughly $250 million.
