Agile Space Industries opens a Bellevue, Washington, engineering office to recruit from the region’s aerospace talent pool. The nearly 5,740-square-foot subleased space initially accommodates six existing employees and is intended to scale to an engineering team of 20 to 30, led by CTO Jake Mills. The Durango-based company develops in-space chemical propulsion systems and has 178 employees; it raised a $17 million Series A earlier this year, and revenue more than tripled over the prior three years.
Vatn Systems raises a $13 million seed round to develop autonomous underwater vehicles for defense uses. The Portsmouth, Rhode Island-based startup’s first prototype weighs about 50 pounds, operates in the top 300 meters of water, and can carry weapons or relay messages between ships; the round brings its total funding to $16.5 million. Investors include lead investor DYNE Ventures, Lockheed Martin Ventures, RTX Ventures, and In-Q-Tel.
