Intero Biosystems wins the 2026 Startup Battlefield at TechCrunch Disrupt, earning recognition for its work developing miniature human intestinal organoids. The Denver-based startup spun out of the University of Michigan and sells GastroScreen to pharmaceutical, biotech, food, and chemical companies to test how drugs and other compounds affect the body. Its lab-grown gut tissue offers researchers another way to study compounds before testing them in people.

Baselayer raises $35 million in a Series A led by M13 to expand its business identity and fraud-risk technology to AI agents, bringing its total funding to about $40 million. The company launches its Agentic Identity Suite and is developing credentials to help merchants, financial institutions and online platforms verify who deployed an agent, whom it represents, and whether it is authorized for a task. More than 2,000 financial institutions use Baselayer’s platform, and the company says it has helped customers prevent over $1 billion in fraud losses.
