WD-40 Company Acquires NO VAC Rug and Room Deodorizer Brand Through HPD Holdings Purchase

WD-40 Company acquired the NO VAC brand of rug and room deodorizer as part of its 72.9 million dollar acquisition of HPD Holdings Corp. in 2001. NO VAC, a powder-based rug freshener designed for use without vacuuming, was one of several household cleaning brands in the HPD Holdings portfolio. The acquisition expanded WD-40's consumer reach into the home care category. NO VAC, along with other HPD brands including Spot Shot, X-14, 2000 Flushes, and Carpet Fresh, was subsequently divested to Prestige Brands Holdings in 2006 as WD-40 refocused on its core maintenance products business.
