Hyperscale Power develops solid-state transformers that replace conventional 50/60Hz transformers, bridging the medium-voltage AC grid and the 800V DC buses required by next-generation AI data centres using advanced power electronics and wide-bandgap semiconductors such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride. The company is developing next-generation units that are 10× smaller than existing solutions, reducing lead times from years to just months. The founding team researched solid-state transformer technology before commercial demand for it existed. AI data centres are the primary near-term market, with broad applicability wherever efficient, controllable power conversion between medium-voltage AC and DC is needed. Conventional 50/60Hz transformers have reached their fundamental size and efficiency limits and cannot meet this demand.
