Aeovian Pharmaceuticals

Aeovian Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing highly selective small molecules that restore cellular metabolic quality control, addressing dysregulated growth and hyperactive signaling in certain rare genetic and age-related diseases. The company was formerly known as Delos Pharmaceuticals and was incubated at the Buck Institute campus for several years. It has developed a proprietary library of small molecules that are potent and selective inhibitors of either mTORC1 or CD38.

Its lead development candidate AV078 is a first-in-class CNS-penetrant selective mTORC1 inhibitor being developed for the treatment of TSC refractory epilepsy. TSC is a genetic disorder frequently associated with medically intractable epilepsy, resulting from selective overactivation of mTORC1 caused by mutations in the TSC1 or TSC2 genes. Current mTOR inhibitors have positive efficacy in certain epilepsies but have issues, the most significant of which is safety.
