Patient-controlled feeding tube that can trigger the body's own powerful appetite-suppressing hormones, including GLP-1, without drugs or surgery.
Alsteni Medical was formed to commercialize a decade of university-funded research into enteral access, supported by the Coulter Foundation and NSF I-Corps and built on a published feasibility study. It develops the Alsteni System, a modular enteral feeding platform combining an intraoral anchor, a patient-managed feeding tube, and a standardized adapter architecture. The platform is organized into two branded lines: Alsteni Nourish for enteral nutrition and Alsteni Reset, a metabolic application still under exploration.
The offering competes on mechanism rather than iteration: it places the feeding route inside the mouth, displacing the nasogastric tube taped across the face and the surgically placed gastrostomy tube, and it is designed to be removed and reinserted by the patient, with no visible hardware between feeds. It targets patients who depend on sustained tube feeding because of cancer, dysphagia, or neurological conditions, together with the clinicians who place and manage their nutrition.
