Microsoft signs a three-year agreement to buy 36,920 metric tons of carbon-removal credits from Indian startup Alt Carbon, its first enhanced rock weathering deal in Asia. The credits come from Alt Carbon’s Darjeeling Revival Project and are due by 2029, with Microsoft able to purchase additional volumes if delivery and verification milestones are met. Alt Carbon spreads crushed basalt on farmland and issues credits through the Isometric registry.
