Overview

Captymer is a line of high-capacity selective resin media developed by Aquanano for water treatment. The anion, chelation, and adsorbent resins are made from crosslinked hyperbranched polyamines and produced as spherical beads with flow dynamics, exchange kinetics, and mechanical strength comparable to conventional ion exchange resins. Aquanano reports that weak-base grades deliver at least twice and strong-base grades at least 1.5 times the exchange capacity of corresponding commercial anion resins, and that the beads can directly replace conventional resin in existing pressure vessels.

The platform is tailored by modulating ion selectivity, with selective variants cited for chromium-6, uranium, perchlorate, nitrate, and PFAS in groundwater remediation, plus grades for deionized water in industrial power generation, precious-metal recovery, and affinity-based life-science separations. Field studies listed by Aquanano cover chromium-6 at Glendale, California, perchlorate at Rancho Cordova, California, and uranium at Grand Island, Nebraska.
