BioMetallica recovers precious metals, platinum-group metals, rare earths, silver and silicon from complex waste via proprietary biological and green chemistry.
BioMetallica is a National University of Singapore spin-off that integrates synthetic biology, green chemistry and advanced hydrometallurgy to recover precious metals, PGMs, rare earth elements, silver and silicon from complex waste streams. Its proprietary pre-treatment processes liberate target metals from highly variable feedstocks including e-waste, spent autocatalysts, incineration ash, mine tailings, motors and solar panels.
BioMetallica targets critical metals that conventional processing cannot economically recover. Engineered microorganisms generate cyanide in situ, eliminating the need for cyanide transportation, storage and handling. Integrated bioremediation converts residual cyanide into non-toxic products while recycling process water, and the process is backed by up to 90% water recycling.
