Conformal Medical designs left atrial appendage occlusion devices to prevent stroke in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Its CLAAS AcuFORM System seals the appendage to reduce stroke risk without anticoagulants, using a foam-based architecture intended to conform to a broad range of appendage anatomies with only two sizes. The system is under study in the CONFORM Pivotal Trial, which evaluates the safety and efficacy of the CLAAS System.

The company sets its device against chronic oral anticoagulation, differentiating on mechanism rather than on brand: simplified sizing and seal confirmation that may accelerate a shift to ICE-guided closure, potentially eliminating transesophageal echocardiography and general anesthesia. It targets patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, the population its device is designed to treat.
