Cook Biotech

Surgeons repairing burns, ulcers, hernias, fistulas, and soft-tissue defects need a scaffold the body accepts rather than rejects. Cook Biotech supplies medical companies, distributors, and clinicians with implantable biomaterials processed from porcine small intestinal submucosa and other naturally occurring extracellular matrices. It designs those scaffolds to be remodeled into the patient's own tissue rather than remain as a permanent implant.

Synthetic polypropylene mesh remains in the body, and biologic alternatives such as the porcine dermal matrix Strattice and the bovine pericardium Veritas rely on non-crosslinked collagen scaffolds. Cook Biotech processes its submucosa-derived matrices so the body remodels them into organized host tissue with no permanent material left behind. That position, built on a license to Purdue-discovered submucosa and extracellular-matrix technology, keeps Cook Biotech supplying regenerative tissue-repair materials rather than permanent implants.
