Point-absorber wave energy converter rated five times more efficient per tonne than prior designs, with proven Atlantic storm survivability.
The core CorPower Ocean WEC is a point-absorber buoy system inspired by the pumping mechanism of the human heart. It is designed to amplify and capture wave motion efficiently. The C4 unit underwent successful storm survivability tests in Portugal, withstanding 18.5 metre storm waves. The C6 unit is rated at approximately 300 kW.
The technology aims to deliver more than five times as much electricity per tonne of equipment compared to previous wave energy designs. It has been tested off the coast of northern Portugal in Atlantic conditions and is intended for utility-scale deployment through CorPower Ocean's modular CorPack arrays.
