Techstars New York City powered by J.P. Morgan selected twelve startups for its spring 2024 class. The group includes Crema, a Mexico City-based fintech building payment solutions for freelancers.
Mexican fintech Crema plans to expand into Chile and Colombia by offering local transfer services, building on its work simplifying international payments for freelancers. Founded in 2021 by Christian Jacobsen and Ramón Ornelas, the company has served more than 6,500 clients across Latin America.
Crema offers freelancers a platform to define gigs with expected deliverables, set weekly or monthly payment schedules, and generate contracts automatically. The service helps independent professionals receive steady payments without chasing clients, combining project expectations, payment timing, and contract creation in one workflow.
Crema, a fintech platform for freelancers and remote workers in Latin America, raises a $300,000 seed round announced in January 2022. The company plans to use the funding to build out its international payments and invoicing product.
