Demox Labs founded by Caster and Marshall built Leo Wallet for Aleo before moving to Ito PR testing.
Demox Labs offered browser native programmable privacy rather than simple transfers or mixing overlays, giving users a real wallet surface for private applications instead of an accessory. Its end to end story combined the wallet with network access and client side proving, which few early zero knowledge teams packaged together.
The company also showed early traction through a large wallet waitlist and backing from crypto native investors led by HackVC. Technical credibility was reinforced by its chief technology officer serving as a ZPrize architect on high performance proving work.

Demox Labs depended on a single ecosystem before the Aleo mainnet had launched, tying wallet adoption to a chain whose proving schemes and tooling were still settling. Client side proving is also heavyweight on weak devices, which limited reach against incumbents with lighter general purpose wallets and large installed bases.
The team was small and funded only through a pre seed round, leaving it outgunned by established wallet and infrastructure vendors. Continuity risk later materialized as the original domain became a stub, both founders moved on, and Leo migrated to Provable stewardship in November 2025.

Transparent ledgers keep pushing demand for programmable privacy across payments, identity, decentralized finance and enterprise workflows that cannot expose every counterparty and amount. Cheaper client side proving, converging standards and application layers that hide chain complexity should widen the audience for private wallets, quiet stable transfers and confidential commerce.
The downside is absorption: rollup operators, optimistic designs and incumbent wallets could fold enough privacy into their own narratives to blunt standalone positioning. In that case distribution and developer defaults matter more than proving novelty.

Leo Wallet is a non custodial browser wallet for the Aleo network that generates zero knowledge proofs on the user device, so transactions stay private while remaining verifiable by counterparties the user chooses. The wallet supports programmable transfers plus selective disclosure of balances and activity, all from an ordinary browser extension.
Demox Labs paired the wallet with supporting infrastructure including network access services, in browser SnarkVM proving, a WebGPU reimplementation of proving cryptography, and privacy frameworks aimed at developers and enterprise teams.
