Entocycle is a London insect-technology company that plans, designs and builds modular black soldier fly farms, turning food waste and organic by-products into protein for animal feed and frass for crop nutrition. Its systems combine breeding supervision, patented machine-vision counting and dosing of young larvae, climate-controlled batch chambers and production management software, all trialled at its own London demonstration centre.
Founded in the mid-2010s by Keiran Olivares Whitaker and backed by Y Combinator in 2017, the company raised a $5 million Series A in 2023 led by Climentum alongside Lowercarbon, ACE and Teampact, followed by a further $2.6 million in 2024. A 2025 partnership with Siemens added digital-twin modelling and automation to its London Bridge showroom farm, aimed at infrastructure investors, waste managers and food producers building waste-to-value projects.
