Meta and EssilorLuxottica launch Meta Glasses, a new collection of AI glasses offered in 26 styles. The collection comes in a range of colors, lenses, and frames, and marks an extension of the companies’ long-running partnership focused on smart eyewear.
EssilorLuxottica says it sold over 7 million Meta AI glasses in 2025, spanning Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses. That total is more than triple the 2 million sold across 2023 and 2024 combined; EssilorLuxottica and Meta have worked together on wearables since 2019 and have extended their partnership into the next decade.
Meta invests roughly €3 billion in EssilorLuxottica for just under a 3% stake, with additional investment potentially raising its holding to 5% over time. The deal extends their partnership behind Ray-Ban Stories and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses; EssilorLuxottica owns Ray-Ban and Oakley.
EssilorLuxottica shares rose 6% after reports that Meta bought a minority stake in the Ray-Ban maker, valued at around 3 billion euros and potentially reaching 5%. The companies first partnered in 2019 and have produced two generations of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses as Meta pursues its AI push.
