Fermenstation produces ethanol by fermenting and distilling organic rice grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers on fallow fields in Oshu, Iwate Prefecture. The leftover fermentation residue is used as an ingredient in cosmetics and as feed for chickens and cows. The resulting manure is then used to fertilize fields and rice paddies. This zero-waste, circular approach is a sustainable way of working.
We carefully ferment and distill JAS-certified organic rice grown on cultivated fallow fields in Oshu, Iwate Prefecture to make alcohol (ethanol). We also use the rice mash left over from fermentation to offer products that are gentle on people and the environment and have traceable origins.
