Fovionics

Fovionics began as BeyondSight, an assistive-technology venture started after a friend lost his vision and could not find affordable technology to help with reading and daily tasks; the business later took the Fovionics name and builds AI companion smart glasses together with a companion mobile application that processes the glasses' images, audio, and questions in the cloud. The glasses read written text aloud, describe surroundings, and flag obstacles through haptic and spoken responses.

The company competes in assistive wearables, differentiating on mechanism and price tier: consumer smart glasses were not built for accessibility, while purpose-built assistive devices have typically been out of financial reach for the users who need them. It targets blind and visually impaired users, positioning its glasses as a complement to the canes, guide dogs, and other primary mobility aids those users already carry rather than a replacement for them.
