Freyssinet is a French civil-engineering specialist supplying bearings, expansion joints, cables, and structural repair worldwide.
Freyssinet earns across the whole life of a structure: new build through post-tensioning, cable systems, and construction methods, and repair through strengthening, corrosion protection, and maintenance of tendons, stay cables, joints, and bearings. The installed base creates recurring demand - its expansion-joint line alone installs around 20,000 linear metres a year in more than 90 countries, and joints are built for a 50-year life.
Current work on its record points to sustained transport-infrastructure programmes, including the HS2 railway line, the Naples-Bari and Madrid-Valencia high-speed lines, and major bridge rehabilitation, alongside seismic protection and nuclear-sector services. A footprint of more than 60 country locations places the company across both new-build and ageing-asset markets.
Freyssinet's advantage comes from inventions that define its specialist fields - prestressing (1928), the flat jack (1938), neoprene bearings (1957), and stay cables (1974) - protected by 231 filed patents by 1981. The company states it has prestressed about two thirds of the world's current nuclear power plants and delivered world-record stay-cable spans such as the 1,408-metre Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge.
Vertical integration covers design offices, in-house product manufacture through Freyssinet Products Company under ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification for its expansion-joint activity, and site delivery through about 60 subsidiaries close to customers. This lets Freyssinet act as general contractor or specialist subcontractor on roughly 10,000 projects a year across five continents.
