Imperial Oil's commercial-scale renewable diesel facility at the Strathcona refinery in Alberta.
Strathcona Renewable Diesel is Imperial Oil's commercial-scale renewable diesel production facility integrated with the Strathcona refinery near Edmonton, Alberta. The unit converts Canadian-grown vegetable oils and other bio-feedstocks via hydroprocessing into low-carbon-intensity diesel that meets ASTM D975 specifications and qualifies for federal Clean Fuel Regulations credits and provincial low-carbon fuel programs.
The facility targets approximately 20,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel output and represents one of the largest renewable diesel operations in Canada. Output is marketed through the Esso and Mobil retail and commercial cardlock channels alongside conventional diesel, supporting Imperial Oil's lower-carbon product portfolio and Canadian decarbonization commitments.
