LiNova Energy and Saft advanced to Stage 2 of their joint development agreement to commercialize LiNova's polymer cathode battery technology for aerospace, defense, and rail markets.
LiNova Energy raised $15.8 million in a Series A round led by Catalus Capital, with Saft, Chevron Technology Ventures, and a syndicate of investors participating.
LiNova's team has over 70 years' combined experience in battery manufacturing, cell development, electrode processing, and venture scaling, plus over 30 issued and pending patents and principal investigator experience on more than $30 million in government research programs.
LiNova power cells use a polymer cathode made from mass-produced precursors rather than mined metals. They are domestically sourced and manufactured, have no cell-level thermal runaway, and can be made on existing lithium-ion lines at up to 90% lower cost.
