Portable battery-powered voltammetric analyzer that brings trace-heavy-metal water analysis on site instead of sending samples to a laboratory.
The 946 Portable VA Analyzer is Metrohm's battery-powered voltammetric instrument for measuring trace heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury in water at the point of sampling. Running on an integrated rechargeable battery and reading out on a laptop screen, it puts a stripping-voltammetry measurement that normally belongs to a laboratory bench into a transport case a field analyst can carry.
Metrohm supplies the analyzer with detection limits and measuring ranges aligned to WHO drinking-water guideline values, aimed at analysts who want a trace-level result within minutes rather than a couriered laboratory turnaround. Its competition is therefore as much the centralised laboratory method it replaces as rival field instruments, and its value rests on carrying an electroanalytical measurement into the field rather than on any single detection limit it quotes.
