Millertown Sheep Farm began in summer 2016 with 12 Merino-Columbia ewes and 6 Cheviot-Bluefaced Leister ewe lambs, and is based on five acres in Auburn, CA. Elisa Noble owns and operates it with help from Connie Watson and Shannon Browning.
The company supports the agricultural community, noting that its sheep farm is not its main income source and that its presence affects livestock producers. Producers often cooperate on sheep management, including shearing.
The page says vegetation management reduces fuel and fire risk and controls invasive weeds, including Himalayan blackberry and starthistle. Methods include fire, herbicide, mastication, manual labor, and grazing, done by the property manager or a hired service.
The company uses livestock guardian dogs and mini donkeys to protect its livestock. Because it typically grazes multiple properties at once, it needs at least one guardian animal at each location.
