Marine biofouling builds drag on commercial vessels, raising fuel burn and emissions at a time when shipowners and charterers must hold CII, FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS targets without extra dry-dock downtime. Nautica Technologies answers with a resident fleet of fully autonomous robots that lives aboard the vessel and grooms the hull continuously so fouling never takes hold. The system works in port, at anchor and at sea, needs no crew and reports hull condition after every run.
Against NAKAI Robotics and Fleet Robotics, which clean or inspect a hull while the vessel is alongside or in transit and preserve the existing antifouling coating, Nautica substitutes for coating performance with an always-onboard unit that holds the hull near dry-dock condition continuously. That reframes hull maintenance as resident robotics sold on an audited outcome rather than an intermittent cleaning service.
