NexRayNexRay — Computed Fluoroscopy System

The NexRay Computed Fluoroscopy System is an inverse-geometry x-ray fluoroscopy platform in which a scanning electron beam generates an array of collimated x-ray cone-beams directed at a small-area detector. It reconstructs multiple slices for three-dimensional depth-of-field information at up to 30 frames per second behind an open-access gantry. NexRay stated the platform cut patient radiation dose by up to ten times and clinician dose by up to five times, under 21 United States patents.

The FDA cleared the device — K953113, SBDX Mobile Fluoroscopy System, applicant Cardiac Mariners, Inc. of Los Gatos — as substantially equivalent on March 29, 1996. The archived nexraymedical.com site marketed it for real-time interventional cardiology guidance — angioplasty balloon placement, stent deployment, and heart valve work — naming NexRay, NovaRay, SBDX, and Cardiac Mariners as trademarks. The domain no longer resolves, the company operated as NovaRay Inc. of Palo Alto by 2006, and no successor product page exists in 2026.
