Nippon Steel is Japan's largest steelmaker and one of the world's leading steel producers, with manufacturing bases in Japan and sixteen or more countries and consolidated employment of 113,845 as of March 31, 2025.
The group's business reaches beyond steelmaking into engineering, chemicals and materials, and system solutions, and its electrical steel line presents a long-developed technology base of grain-oriented and non-oriented grades for motors and transformers.
Management's stated strategy targets a return to leading global steelmaker status by strengthening the domestic earnings base and executing overseas growth in four focus regions: the United States, Europe, India, and Thailand, under a mid-term management plan oriented to 2030.
Announced commitments track that direction. In September 2026 the group decided to invest 900 million euros at the United States Steel Kosice plant in Europe for sustainable growth and decarbonization.
