nRF Connect for Mobile - Research Notes
nRF Connect for Mobile is Nordic Semiconductor's handheld utility for exercising Bluetooth Low Energy peripherals during development. Its browser presents nearby devices, advertisement payloads, signal strength, and GATT services and characteristics; developers can read or write characteristic values and monitor notifications while logging interactions.
The app also supports firmware updates using Nordic's Device Firmware Update profile, allowing a compatible device to receive a supplied HEX or ZIP image over the air. Nordic's product documentation lists additional Android functions, including a configurable GATT server and concurrent central and peripheral workflows. These capabilities make the mobile app a separate development aid from Nordic's chips and firmware SDK.
